Il suo territorio è attraversato dal fiume Orcia, che le dà il nome, ed è il luogo dove si producono grandi vini italiani, tra cui il famoso Brunello. Ad est della valle poi, sorge il monte Amiata, il più alto vulcano spento d’Italia. La Val d’Orcia è anche un importante parco naturale, artistico e culturale, ed infatti dal 2 luglio 2004 è stato riconosciuto come Patrimonio mondiale dell’Umanità dall’UNESCO per l’ottimo stato di conservazione del suo paesaggio, “…celebrato dai pittori della Scuola Senese, fiorita durante il Rinascimento.
